Deere Releases New Upgrades For Skidders
Deere came out with a press release on the 15th saying that they have come out with 2 new upgrades for their forestry skidders. Considering Deere is the worldwide leader in forestry equipment I’m sure that there will be plenty of excited loggers looking forward to the new upgrades.
The Lock-Up Torque Converter was the first upgrade to be released and is said to give significant increases in production compared current models. The converter provides more power to the skidder the more it is in lock-up mode providing operators to get more work done. The torque converter is said to be able to move an additional 3 truckloads of logs assuming the usual load of 14 trucks per day. While the 648H’s horsepower and number of gears remains the same, more power is provided in the lower gears due to the new converter.
The other upgrade provided is a new brake declutch for 540G-III, 548G-III, 640H, 648H and 748H direct drive skidders. The brake declutch makes work easier because the operator no longer has to work the clutch pedal or Forward-Neutral-Reverse shifter while using the grapple, increasing production levels.
